This Privacy Policy explains how Hey Zane ("Hey Zane", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares information when you use the Hey Zane mobile app, the Zane device and our website heyzane.ai (together, the "Services").
1. Who we are
The Services are provided by Hey Zane. You can contact us about privacy at support@heyzane.ai.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
Account details: your phone number, or your Apple or Google account identifier if you sign in with Apple or Google; your name; and your email address if you give it to us or your Apple or Google account shares it.
Home and family: the names you give your Zane devices and the people you invite to your home in the app.
Location: your city, or the coordinates and time zone of your phone if you allow location access. We use it to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction.
Settings and schedules: prayer settings (calculation method, Adhan sound, volume, iqama times and the reminder before the Adhan), quiet hours and the Quran and adhkar schedules you create.
Support requests: what you write to us and any screenshots you attach.
Voice recordings you choose to share: if you take part in voice collection in the app, the recordings you make and the profile details you provide, with your consent.
Information collected when you use the Services
Voice requests: when you say "Hey Zane", the Zane device records your request and sends it to our servers to understand and answer it.
Device information: the device serial number, firmware version, online status, Wi-Fi signal strength, restart reasons and technical logs. Logs have personal information removed before they are uploaded.
App information: the push notification token of your phone, the app version, and crash information.
Information we do not collect
Your home Wi-Fi password is entered on the Zane device's own setup page and stays on the device. It is not sent to the app or to us.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How we use information
To create and secure your account, including sending one-time sign-in codes by text message.
To set up your Zane, calculate prayer times for your location, play the Adhan, Quran and adhkar, and run your schedules.
To answer voice requests.
To show the status of your devices, deliver software updates and fix problems.
To send notifications you have turned on, such as prayer reminders and device alerts.
To provide support and respond to you.
To improve the wake word and voice features, using only recordings you chose to share.
To keep the Services safe, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal obligations.
4. Text messages (SMS)
When you sign in with your phone number, we send a one-time code to that number by text message. We send one message per sign-in request. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See our SMS Terms at heyzane.ai/sms-terms.
Mobile information and SMS opt-in consent will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
5. How we share information
Service providers who process information for us under contract: Amazon Web Services (hosting, accounts, device connection, notifications, storage); our text-message provider; Apple and Google (sign-in and push notifications); Groq and Cartesia (understanding voice requests and producing spoken replies).
People in your home: members you invite can see and use the Zanes you share with them.
Legal reasons: when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users and others.
Business transfers: if our business is merged or sold, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
6. Location
You can allow the app to use your phone's location, or choose your city instead. The location is stored with your Zane so it can calculate prayer times on the device. You can change it at any time in Settings › Prayer location, or turn off location access in your phone settings.
7. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 18. Account holders must be at least 18. Family members may use a Zane in the home, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.
8. How long we keep information
Account information: while your account is open, and deleted after you delete your account.
Device logs: kept only as long as needed to run and support the Services.
Voice requests: kept only as long as needed to run and support the Services.
Voice collection recordings: until you ask us to delete them or withdraw consent.
When you remove a Zane from your home, it leaves your home straight away and its settings are erased; if it is offline, it erases them the next time it connects.
9. Your choices and rights
You can view and update your name, email and settings in the app.
You can delete your account in the app at Settings › Delete account.
You can turn off notifications and location access on your phone.
You can ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by writing to support@heyzane.ai. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law.
10. Security
We use safeguards such as encryption in transit, device certificates for each Zane and access controls. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
11. Where information is processed
Our servers are in the United States. If you use the Services from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
12. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. If the changes are significant, we will tell you in the app or by email.
